The Perfect Storm: Claims, COVID, and Natural Disasters

2020 has been filled with so many "once in a century" type events that we've lost count. How has the insurance industry handled each new catastrophe, and how do we plan for the next year? Experience this Q&A style discussion session and hear from some of the top industry claims professions on how they have handled the landscape so far, and their thoughts on the year to come. Registrants are encouraged to submit questions with their registration for the opportunity to cover the topic more in-depth. Questions will also be taken during the session. ​

Ann Marie Snyder, CRIS
AVP, Senior Underwriter
Ann Marie Snyder joined XL Catlin in June 2012 as a Senior Underwriter in the Energy Group.  In 2015, Ann Marie joined the Construction team in the Professional and Pollution Lines group as an Assistant Vice President, Senior Underwriter. Beginning in January 2018, she joined the Excess Construction Group as an Assistant Vice President, Senior Underwriter handling the Southeast Region.
Prior to joining XL Catlin, Ann Marie worked as a Senior Underwriter at AIG Environmental and then Ironshore underwriting monoline pollution. Before starting her career in insurance, Ann Marie was an Environmental Scientist working on the EPA’s Superfund Technical and Response Team.  Her experience as an Environmental Scientist helps her develop creative underwriting solutions for her clients.
Ann Marie was a member of the Insurance Society NextGen Board since 2014. She was Chair of the Events Committee from 2015-2019 Secretary of the NextGen Board from 2017-2019.  She is now a member of the Insurance Society of Philadelphia Board. She is also a member of the ISOP Gala Committee.
Ann Marie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and minor in Geography with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems from Georgia State University.

Head of Global Excess Casualty Claims, AXA XL​

​Working out of the New York office, Angela is head of AXA XL’s Global Excess Casualty Claims department. In addition to being responsible for the management of the Excess Casualty Claims department, she also supervises a claims staff of eight claim professionals handling Excess Casualty Claims, prepares reports for senior claims and underwriting management, provides settlement authority for handlers and attends complex claim mediations.  
Angela has more than 20 years of insurance industry experience. She started her career at The Prudential Insurance Company of America as a Consultant.  She’s held numerous positions at AIG and prior to joining AXA XL in March 2015 she was a Vice President Claims Specialist at Travelers Insurance

Michael Pettinelli, CPCU, ARM
VP, Global Insurance and Risk, Aramark
​Michael Pettinelli is Vice President, Global Risk & Insurance within Aramark’s Global Risk Management team since May of 2014.  His primary role is to oversee all property and casualty insurance renewals throughout 20 countries and lead a team of 3 individuals in the U.S. and U.K..   Exposures incorporated in these policies are over $8B in assets, 9K vehicles, revenues of $16B and over 250K employees.  Outside of the insurance renewals, Michael spends much of his time reviewing insurance provisions in contracts with Aramark customers and suppliers.  The intent is to determine if Aramark’s insurance programs are compliant while negotiating favorable terms and conditions where available. 
Prior to Aramark, Michael worked as an insurance broker at Marsh for 7 years in their middle market segment. Most recent he was Vice President, Client Manager, servicing clients on their property & casualty insurance needs across the Hospitality, Entertainment, Education, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Chemical industries.    His current professional designations include CPCU and ARM, and a licensed Property & Casualty Producer.  
Michael is a Magna cum Laude graduate from Temple University where he majored in International Business, Finance and Risk Management & Insurance.  While at Temple he was a member of the football team.  Currently he is a board member of the Insurance Society of Philadelphia and various carrier/broker client advisory boards.  Michael is a native of the Philadelphia area and currently resides in Newtown Square with his wife Jenna, and their children Dominic, Cecilia and Francesca.
